cool stuff i like

August 26, 2016

HAPPY FRIDAY!! Ok. Not only did I not have two posts like I said I would try to try to do last time I posted, I then didn't post for two weeks! My friends, it's all been crazy. And I know it's been crazy for you all as well, so let's just all be crazy together and get together here when we can! Life will all calm down when that magical magical magical time called BACK TO SCHOOL occurs. How do you like these amazing dolls up above? I did head shots for an artist the other day, and she had the most amazing work space. Beautiful art, decorative lovely things, crystals and these amazing wooden dolls. I'm so inspired to set up a new work space. Guess where I've been working?? ON THE FLOOR of our guest room, because I can't handle being at the table in the middle of our house anymore. First world problems I know. But this weekend I'm-a gonna-go to IKEA and I'm getting me-self a desk. And I'm going to tuck it into our guest room and I'm going to hide myself in there like a wee little squirrel!

Cool stuff I've been collecting the past couple of weeks, ha :

Can't WAIT to see this!

Back to school with Etsy.

I kind of want one of these, and think it's right up my alley. Even though Andrew says it's bunk.

How gorgeous is this marzipan and berry tart?

Dried cranberry and banana oat cookie bars - these would be great in lunchboxes...

Hilarious. (thanks Leanne!)

Love this idea.

Cool book!

INCREDIBLE. Julia and I both thought this was one of the best children's movies we've ever seen. (Note: read up on it though before taking the under 7 yrs set - use your own discretion! It's PG, and amazing but kinda intense emotionally, and there are some scary elements that might upset sensitive younger kiddos.)

Cool Book of the Week: I'm such a huuuuge fan of Emily Winfield Martin and her newest book, 'The Littlest Family's Big Day' (due out this autumn) looks so delightful I can barely contain myself. I think everything she does is beyond magical. This was supposedly inspired by of one of my all time favorite books, 'The Little Fur Family'. I can't wait wait wait to see this in person. I think I'll have to give one to every under 5 I know this holiday season!

Have a lovely weekend! I can't believe summer is basically over. I feel like I didn't get to do half of what I mean to accomplish. But I shan't be sad. I SHAN'T. Because the best time of the year is just around the corner and that makes everything better.

  1. Morning!

Dontcha just love when you publicly set goals for yourself that you don't deliver on? Not to worry, I, for one, am happy to hear from you whenever you pop up.

I am now in love with Punky Pins from the Etsy back to school post. LOVE.

Kubo looks great. May just take our little to that this weekend!

    1. ha ha i know! ah well. oh i'm going to amend my link to Kubo with a caution - unless your kid doesn't scare like ever, i think i'd use your-own-judgement before taking under 7 yr old kids. It's PG but it's intense emotionally and there's a kinda scary monster and some creepy scenes...

  3. I am so excited to see Victoria! I am in withdrawal for awesome PBS series-I do have the first season of Poldark on DVD, so should rewatch that. Now that the Olympics are over, I feel as free as a bird with my TV viewing!

    1. I feel like I need to re-watch Poldark again too! Been watching 'Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell' - was based on a very cool book, if you're into British fairy magic lore!

  4. I have a little "desk" of sorts in my walk in closet. I guess we are both part squirrel. ;)

I kinda love the Farmer's Almanac. You should get it.

Oooo Kubo sounds good. And thanks for the warning. My littles are young and sensitive.
