cool stuff i like

Hi lovelies! I wrote about these amazing calendars on Instagram the other day, but they are so incredible, I'm also sharing here as well. My friend Heather Sleightholm is the most terrifically talented artist, and her work has delighted me for years. When she announced that she was creating a calendar, I pre-ordered it immediately. Now the calendars are in stock in her Etsy shop, as well as so much more of her incredible prints and cards! You need to check her out.

Cool stuff to look at over the weekend:

I need this book and also this book.

I have very rarely heard my husband laugh as hard as he did at this.

Beauty products for transitioning into Fall.

This is incredible. Seriously my dream!

Autumn recipes from Nigel Slater.

Vintage wallpaper.

PLEASE TELL ME YOU'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE.

Need more because you're obsessed like me? Here you go.

This is the coolest for kids! The Secret Society of Letter Writers.

Cool Book of the Week: Check out this GORGEOUS version from Penguin Classics of 'Emma'!! It looks like a fashion magazine from the 1800's. My jaw dropped when I saw it. Ok true confession time - I HAVE NEVER READ JANE AUSTEN. Are you shocked? What's funny is....I was an English Literature major. I've seriously read EVERYTHING except Jane Austen. Of course, I've seen allllllllllllllllllllllllll of the movies, but never read a single book of hers. It feels deeply disturbing to even write these words. I don't own any of the books. So I've decided that I'm going to select a beautiful copy of each of her books, and start reading every one. It's my reading plan for 2019. I know. It's just.....crazy that I haven't read them.

Have a lovely long weekend! It's September! I love September. SCHOOL SUPPLIES. I think the afterlife for me needs to be a tea shop in a book shop in a stationery shop. I've been happily planning what fall timey things I want to start cooking. I know, still nearly another month of summer, but for me, it's all over once September rolls in. Fall time!!

  3. I WISH Harper was into writing letters/postcards. It was like pulling teeth to get her to even sign her names on a few while we were in England. Of course I've been writing letters since I can remember (#old) and still love to, to this day. Sigh. Can't make your kids like what you like....

  4. Oh I LOVE that cover of Emma! Even though I have at least two different copies of the novel, I HAD to get this one. I'm so glad you are are going to read Jane Austen-I actually belong to a Jane Austen Book Club! We've been meeting for 5 or 6 years, once a month. Since Austen didn't write that many novels, we fill in with other books from roughly the same historical time frame. Each year we re-read a selection of her novels, and Emma happens to be the one we are discussing in a few weeks!! Persuasion is my favorite Austen :)

    1. Oh wow, that sounds amazingly fun! I adore the idea of book clubs, but I've never found any around me that sound fun like yours does!! Sigh. I have a friend in Canada who belongs to a Lucy Maud Montgomery book club!!!!

  6. I look forward to your lists so much, and love to hear what movies you are interested in. I was wondering if you caught the trailer for "Tea with the Dames"? It looks like a riot! I think it's release date is Sept. 21st.

Those ladies are going to be a hoot and a half. I've now watched To All The Boys I've Loved Before twice lol. And I FINALLY saw The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society movie on Netflix - very sweet.

  7. Hello friend!! Have you tried any of the beauty products for fall? I really want to try the Juice Beauty eyebrow gel. It's still 95 degrees and terribly hot and humid here, but it's September, and I'm pretending that it's fall-like and cool outside by baking lots of yummy pumpkin things. Ina's pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are planned for tomorrow and I can hardly wait!! Your new calendar is lovely by the way.

    1. Hi Hi Hi!! I haven't tried any of those yet but I am intrigued by the Probiotic Mask, and I also like the look of the Revlon lip color thingy. Oh and I did order the dry shampoo for my daughter, who uses dry shampoo a lot, and this one is supposed to smell amazing. Was it you that I was chatting with about doing a skincare post with? I think so. I'm working on it!

  10. Several years ago my best friend and I decided to read all of Austen's novels. I got stuck on Emma and had to switch to audiobook just to get through. I love the movie Clueless so I'm not sure why I had an issue with Emma but she irritated me and I never came around to liking her. Northanger Abbey was my favorite and Persuasion was lovely, too. Happy reading!

    1. Bridgette-Emma is definitely one of my least favorite Austen novels. Like you said, she irritates me. I'm super happy you love Northanger Abbey, it is one of my favorites, and I think it doesn't get enough love!

    2. I think I'm actually going to start with Northanger Abbey! Seems good for fall time.

    3. Northanger Abbey is definitely good for fall time. I would suggest Persuasion for winter and maybe Mansfield Park or Sense & Sensibility for spring.
